Michael W. Cardamone, a Certified Pennsylvania Work Comp Specialist and named to Best Attorneys of America by Rue Ratings, has secured a significant settlement for his client, an injured scientist who sustained a severe head injury at work. Pending was a Petition to Modify benefits based on a job offer. There was a dispute as to whether Cardamone’s client could handle the job given her significant  post-concussive symptoms.

The settlement was reached after a long Mediation with a Workers’ Compensation Judge, defense counsel, and the adjustor.  All Pennsylvania Work Comp Settlements have to be approved at a hearing before a Workers’ Compensation Judge. The Judge must determine whether the injured worker understands the full legal significance of the settlement- ie, what rights are being given up in exchange for the lump sum.
